About Nicole D. Miller
Author, Writer, Owner
Nicole D. Miller, MBA
Hello there! My name is Nicole D. Miller, and I began my writing journey as a writer in an interesting way. I remember as a kid, writing books for class and creating stories (along with my own feeble attempts at illustrations). I had no idea that back then what was a fun hobby could be the indication of an actual career!
Books were a safe place for me, where imaginative worlds served as hideouts for a mind that was a sponge for learning. I was born an only child and there was a period of time where my best friend was my very own beloved grandmother. She loved learning and reading too, so we often found ourselves mutually immersed in some novel by an adult author who was way ahead of my time. But still, I found pure joy in our shared passion for reading, so my parents allowed this indulgence :-).
Often, the weekends were exciting because my mom would take me to the local library and I would select my favorite teen, suburban series, or latest release from the famous horror genre author, Steven King. I would be happily cooped up in my small bedroom, surrounded by characters who were entangled in teen heartthrobs or fast-moving plot scenes. I was never denied this passion, and even when I finally found friends (thank You Lord), I still found time for my one true friends─ my books.
The world of urban literature opened up to me upon reading my most favorite book still to this day, which is Omar Tyree’s “Flyy Girl”. In my opinion, it is truly an urban classic.
Then, when I fell in love with the Creator, I was introduced to Christian Fiction and Francine River’s “Redeeming Love” swept me off my feet. Another deeply impacting book on my faith, was “The Hiding Place” by Corrie ten Boom.
Though reading and writing have always been of great interest, I went to school for business, and for a long time, that was my focus. Little did I know that God was going to carve out ample time in my life for me to simultaneously pursue both business and writing! And so, here I am.
I released my very first book “How to Overcome Heartbreak: Recovering from Misguided Love” at a time where there was a standpoint in my career, and I learned that God was birthing something. He was birthing out a dream that I didn’t even know I had, and one that originated in my ancestor’s hearts.
My desire is for the world to experience the truths that I have, through my writing and my characters. Being a Black, Christian, Fiction writer in today’s climate can seem a little daunting, and yet I believe there are so many of us with these shared experiences who desire to see them in print. And even more folks, who have yet to have these experiences, but who will, once they realize the eternal is much more real than the natural.
Thank you for joining me on this discovery of love, faith, hope, joy and abundant living as exemplified in my writing.
Blessings to you and yours.
Nicole
