God Will Defend His Name

April 28, 2024

We are nearing the end of Passover season. Passover is typically celebrated in the Jewish culture, however, some of us have gotten in touch with our Hebraic roots and understand the importance of the times of feasts God gave to the Hebrews, so we celebrate them too. Or at least, honor them when they occur.

Years ago, there was some type of move in the Body of Christ that touched the part that I was in and I ended up learning some of the customs and holidays of the Jews. That was the beginning of the Father opening my eyes to His ways and His thoughts.

In typical Christian sectors, we don’t hear too often about understanding the Father’s ways. We put Him up high on an unreachable pedestal as if our relationship with the Divine is so holy it can never be touched. But that is the beauty in what Yeshua did. He came down in the form of Man so that we could touch Him.

Similar to the woman who hemorrhaged for 12 long years, as a 23-year-old, I found myself grasping and flailing at the hem of Jesus. I was heartbroken from my first love, on my knees daily, and marred by gut-wrenching pain. When my ex-fiance married someone a mere four months after our 4-year relationship ended, I couldn’t believe it. How had he moved on so fast? I also was called to live in the same city and be around his community. His friends were my friends. My plight was constantly in my face. But when I asked God why I had to stay, He responded, “I will set a table before you in the presence of your enemies.” (Psalm 23:5)

Have you ever been in a place you didn’t want to be but you felt divinely called to be there?

I did not want to reside in my current city. I did not want to be single. I did not want to be alone.

But God was doing a work in me during that time. 23-year-old Nicole was talented, intelligent, and had a good heart, but I had a lot of “stuff” working in me. I lacked self-awareness. I was codependent. I had lost the little identity I had in my relationship. But there was a call on my life; a higher purpose. And because of that, God was going to get me together to prepare me for that call. He was going to defend His name concerning me.

Do you know there are words spoken over your life?

Every great author envisions the characters in their mind’s eye, even if they don’t create an outline beforehand and are “pantsers” like me. I may not know in the beginning all of the details about my characters and plot, but I am figuring it out along the way and then using a lot of editing to make sure the story is in line with my vision. By the end of the book, I’ve made sure that my characters have reached my intended ultimate destination. That is how Elohim is with us. We are the characters and our lives are the plot. There is so much good intent He has toward us and has spoken over us before the beginning of time. (Dare I say, God is an “outliner”?!) These words must come to pass, but often they are tested to prove their validity. Truth must be tested. Every great scientist knows that a hypothesis is just that until there is evidence to prove or disprove it.

What is the evidence in your life of the Father’s goodness toward you? Are you taken care of? Provided for? Loved?

I have been so loved in my faith journey these 20+ years. I have had people choose me who are not required to. I have had people fight for me, stand by me, and protect me. I have had all these things, but for a lot of years, I struggled to feel fully loved. At the same time that I had people choosing me, I had people rejecting me. At the same time I was being loved, I was going without love. That is a picture of the calling on my life; it is not without its tests.

But we have to be tested in order to be refined.

If you are reading this, I’m sure that God is refining you today. I say that because you are attached to me. I believe we are in the same season. I believe you are passing through Passover just as I am passing through Passover just as the Jews passed through Passover.

The time of Passover was when the Israelites were freed from bondage to Egypt. God sent an angel of death as a final sign for Pharoah to free them from his rule. This angel of death passed over every house marked with the sign of the lamb’s blood so that the children of Israel were spared from their firstborns killed by the angel of death. They were passed over. When they escaped, the destination was the Promised Land. Unfortunately, the Israelites had so much “stuff” in them. They were disobedient, prideful, and unbelieving. They ended up in circles in the wilderness for 40 long years until a whole generation died off. It wasn’t until the new generation was raised up, and the 40 long years of waiting were over, that they were able to enter their Promised Land. A journey that should have taken 11 days took 40 years.

Can you imagine?

The thing that I discovered recently was that the Israelites entered into their Promised Land the same month that they were freed from Egypt. This is the month of Nisan, which is the month we are currently in. So, even though it took them 40 years, God still brought them in at the appointed time. That is the picture of redemption. Even with our mistakes and missteps, because we are His, and He is the great Author, He is going to make sure we arrive at our destination right on time.

Is there something you are waiting for that seems unlikely to occur? It seems like it would actually be miraculous, or near impossible because of the delay? Rest assured that if He did it once, He can do it again. He is the same today, yesterday, and tomorrow. Even if it takes 40 years, nothing is too hard for God.

Key scriptures:

Luke 8:43-44
Psalm 23:5
Jeremiah 29:11-13
Deut 1:1-2
Heb 13:8

Father, I thank You that with You there is no delay. You operate outside of time and because I am yours I have the ability to operate outside of time as well. Please give me Your eyes to see and Your ears to hear so that I am not moved by what I do or do not see in the natural. Bless me to flow according to Your divine flow and divine will so that I arrive at Your intended destinations right on time. Bless me to receive Your understanding of Your way with me; Your numbers, Your calendar, and Your words. You are the Maker and I am the creation. You have fashioned me according to Your intent for my purpose. It will be Your supernatural plan that unfolds in my life that will reveal that purpose. Thank You that You are faithful, today, yesterday, and forever. Just as You did with the Israelites, You will do with me.
