Have you ever sat and thought about the fact that you do not have to tell your body to breath? I mean, you need air. Your body is wired to need air. And yet you do not have to tell it, “Body, I need air right now, so breath.” No. It just does it on its own. I think that one fact is miraculous.

God created our bodies in such a way, that they are sufficient.

There are systems in place in our being that just run on their own. Maybe there’s something in our brains that sends this message to our mouths and noses that tells them to inhale/exhale. I don’t know. I didn’t major in science, people. But either way, it happens without much conscious input from us.

I was thinking about that recently, as well as some of the things I just take for granted that God does for me daily. I think it’s easy to look at the big things, like something you have been praying about for a while, and then, BOOM! God does it! But what about those small things? Like breathing air? We tend to forget these minute daily needs and yet, He doesn’t hold that against us. He provides.

Even when He doesn’t get the credit.

I believe there are just some things I am never going to have to go through in this life, simply because of the kind of grace He’s distributed just for me. While dating, I am reminded of this over, and over again. I hear women’s stories about some of the tumultuous, traumatic events that have occurred in their lives with men, and I’m in shock. I can look at my story and see that there was a level of protection around me, even through overcoming heartbreak, and there still is. One of my prayers while dating has been, “Lord reveal!” And He does. Every single time.

What are some things in your life that you have overlooked being thankful for? In what way can you say there is a specific kind of grace being distributed to you that has always been distributed to you, and probably always will be?

Often I struggle with anxiety. I worry about the future. I worry about people’s rejection and abandonment. I have to make great efforts to not believe these lies, and still, there are times when I do. I have to intentionally practice being open to new relationships and new people and believing that they will stay in my life. Even when others choose to leave. But you know what? When meditating on God’s provision for the things I often take for granted, I am encouraged to know that if He can provide and make a way for the small things to get taken care of, how much more for those big things? How much more with sustaining my relationships?

Does this truth sound familiar?

(NIV)
If that is how God clothes the grass of the field, which is here today and tomorrow is thrown into the fire, will he not much more clothe you—you of little faith? So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

If you are struggling with believing that God is going to provide in your situation, I encourage you to think of one small thing that you know is provision made in your life. He did that just for you. In the very way that He relates to you. Because you reflect that part of who He is.
